Psychosexual therapy
Psychosexual therapists have undertaken an intensive two year course, before qualifying.
I have been accredited and a senior accredited member of COSRT(College of Sexual Relationship Therapists)
Pyschosexual Therapy (also available by Skype)
At times in our lives people may experience sexual difficulties.
These could be short-term after a baby, due to stress, or longer term (never been able to have intercourse) and you need to seek the help of a psychosexual therapist. The programme is based on cognitive behavioural therapy.
Sessions are tailored to individuals or couples.
Initial assessment meeting.
I will ask you a lot of questions in order to find out what your difficulty is and help you to have a better understanding of your difficulty.
(I may ask you to see your GP if I feel we need to rule out a medical problem.) You will be asked what your goals for therapy are.
Please note: This kind of therapy requires a commitment and attendance weekly or every two weeks.
After the first assessment you may be asked to attend a more thorough assessment this is done separately if you are a couple. These more in depth questions allows me to tailor the programme to your specific difficulties. From this I will design homework tasks and therapy to help with your difficulties.
Tasks will be given to you to do at home, this could be to improve intimacy, communication, rebuild your sex life, relaxation or more specific tasks. You need to be able to allow time in your life to undertake the homework tasks and meet with me regularly. As therapy continues and we near the end I may see you monthly.
